The Georgia Aquarium was founded in 2005. It is a public aquarium located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The aquarium houses more than 10 million gallons of water and over 120,000 animals from 500 different species including fish, birds, mammals and reptiles.
Some of the main exhibits include the Tropical Forest that showcases plants and animal life from the rainforest; Ocean Voyager, a 6.3 million gallon exhibit that is home to whale sharks, manta rays and other open ocean fish; Cold Water Quest, an exhibit featuring penguins, seals and other animals from cold water climates; and River Scout, an exhibit highlighting the plants and animals that can be found in freshwater rivers. General admission tickets can be purchased online or at the aquarium ticket office. Discounted tickets are available for seniors, students, military personnel and groups of 10 or more. Annual passes are also available for purchase.
