Went there for a picnic. We were right next to the water. Lovely weather and view. Love the amenities! We have been camping there for years. Really liked all of the upgrades. We haven’t been there in a while. Very pleased.

First, let me tell you about the amazing parts. The welcoming committee is so kind. You’re greeted by ducks, geese and even squirrels that sit on the chair with you. The ducks let me pet them and the crazy goose was cool enough to sit in your lap on the porch. So remember snacks for the welcoming party or else they will help you eat half your breakfast and dinner. Once inside yurt, I was amazed at the space and comforts of having power, heat and air. We had #3 which is the further one from all amenities and still only a quick 2 minute walk to the bathrooms and showers. I was impressed with the privacy of having own toilet and shower in each restroom. No joint shower or toilet,as I expected for a camping area and best part…no waits. The rowing team was fun to watch in the evening but a bit unexpected in the a.m as you wake. So be prepared for the megaphone of demands so you don’t wake believing your camp is in immediate danger. Don’t leave your drink unguarded on porch as the squirrels are not afraid to taste test it for you. Now the reason I didn’t give this beautiful place 5 stars was most likely slight oversight on parks housekeeping but our room still had previous guest trash inside in can and on floor,, along with massive amounts of pet hair on one of the large futons. We did check in late so front office was unable to correct this problem for us and it was easy fix for me to correct but felt it responsible to deduct a star for. The office stated she correct this issue immediately and gave an apology for such. I loved our random spontaneous anniversary adventure and think anyone who visits would also.

I have lived in this area for most of my life, but today was my first visit to Fort Yargo. I can’t believe I have been missing this gem! What a beautiful place. I had NO IDEA they had a beach and rent boats. I came for a kayaking class. It may have been my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last!!!

A surprising amount of neat things. A great variety too. Easy to spend about an hour here. And it’s free.

So much history about the county and interesting even for travelers. The jail is a must-see. This shows you how the history of a small town grows.
