Well maintained historic building. Many exhibits of antique household items and things that were excavated during renovation. The stairs are a steep challenge if you have bad knees (or short legs) For a tour guide their office is across the street and they are more than happy to come and open everything and give a full tour; just call the number listed on the door. Check out all the historic markers and monuments on the property too

Beautiful gardens with lots of variety. Plenty to see even during fall. Lots of educational opportunities for little kids. Gift shop has a great variety of books, educational toys, and gifts for the holidays. All the staff there were very friendly and super passionate about the Gardens. We just missed their winter holiday lights display but based on the amount of lights they were putting up it will be gorgeous.

What an amazing place. All of the volunteers were so knowledgeable and so friendly. Even just the visitors were kind. The gift shop was fabulous and I picked up a few things for friends and family. I didn’t get a chance to see the Holiday lights at night. But it was even more beautiful in the day. Everything is labeled so perfectly when you walk through. That only do you learn but you get a little bit of a hands-on experience with everything. Words cannot express what a fabulous time I had. Thank you guys so much for all of your hospitality and I can’t wait to come back and visit again.

I’m not sure what all the negative reviews are about. This establishment is FREE and beautiful yet people still complain. Anyway, my kiddo and I had a great time today. The gardens are being prepped and it’s still winter so obviously not much was happening there but I cannot wait to come back when everything is in bloom 🌻🌸🌺 Parking was plenty, I’m sure the weekends might be a bit crazy. Although it’s free and free parking, donation is welcome and there’s a small box for it near the entrance. Great place for photos! The kids playground was awesome as well. The bathrooms were clean. Next time we’ll bring a picnic! There is a cafe but we didn’t go inside at all.

I’ve loved going to Bear Hollow since I was a little girl. I’ve even enjoyed taking my kids. I love the owls!

This zoo is great. It is small as some reviewers say but they should keep in mind it is a free zoo for rehabbed animals. We saw owls, bears, turkeys, river otters, a bald eagle, a gator and more. My 7 year old didn’t want to leave. We all had a great time and will be back.

It’s a cool place for little kids. Nice because it’s free. Having said that, there are only a few animals there and it’s hit or miss if they are out. So if you have toddlers, I’d say visit but expect to be done in less than an hour.

Well, this is a hidden treasure. Well designed and maintenant. I have been to the State Botanical Garden many times but I did not know that there is a place like that.
One evening, I discovered it, and it made my day.
If you live or come to Athens, make sure you check it out. Amazing

Always love this park. I have been walking the trails and visiting the zoo for almost two decades and now I get to take my daughter with me and she loves feeding the ducks and turtles. She can’t wait for the playground to open up again. But still plenty of activities at this versatile park in south central Athens. Plus a quiet dog park tucked away as well.

Good park. Great disc golf course. Clean sand volleyball “court”. Clean normal ball fields, outdoor basketball courts, and tennis courts. Even have dog waste bags and receptacles. Restrooms stay pretty clean for a park that stays pretty busy. Couldn’t ask for much more.

Fun little park. Not busy when we went. Had just enough equipment to keep my boys occupied for an hour or so.

I’m not the outdoors type. But it was fun. I helped my brother-in-law with a survival class for middle school children. It’s a large park. Very nice. Is spot though. Got lost getting there. But, still great. Gotta get there.

Nice outdoor area to explore. Fall rendezvous was great event for families. Take the kids and get outside. Wish it was open for access all the time. Would love to drop in with the kids to fish and hike.

Awesome awesome park. Just loud traffic sounds to contend with, with sweet spot nonetheless! There’s a cool chimney that we can’t find any history on.
